About the teacher
Juani Palop is a Spanish saxophonist and teacher based in the Netherlands. She graduated cum laude from the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Valencia and continued her studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Arno Bornkamp, including an Erasmus period at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris with Claude Delangle. In 2009, she completed her Master’s degree in saxophone at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam cum laude.
From 2010 to 2018, Juani was a member of the Banda Municipal de Barcelona. As a freelance musician, she has collaborated with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, musicAeterna and LUDWIG, working with conductors including Pablo Heras-Casado, Barbara Hannigan and Teodor Currentzis.
She is the soprano saxophonist of the Berlage Saxophone Quartet and co-founded Trio Abril with Arno Bornkamp and pianist Frank van de Laar. From 2009 to 2019, she was co-artistic director of Alcosax Festival and she is currently co-artistic director of EibarSax Festival, both located in Spain.
Juani has taught at the School for Young Talent of the Royal Conservatoire The Hague and at Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg. She currently teaches saxophone at ArtEZ Conservatorium in Zwolle and gives masterclasses internationally.
