About the teacher
Because of his powerplay, virtuosity, an enormous pallet of dynamics and a completely unique sound, Jeroen Pek (NL/IT) is internationally regarded as one of today's leading jazz flutists.
His stylistically diverse projects (such as Jeroen Pek Quartet, PitchWhiteStorm, Jeroen Pek Band) toured in many countries and produced a solid list of recordings.
With his international exchange projects (a.o. Jeroen Pek European Quartet/-Trio, 6 Spoons, 1 Kitchen) he played with musicians such as guitarists Serge Lazerevitch, Gerard Pansanel (F) and Sandro Schneebelli (CH), bassist Giulia Valle (SP), percussionist Simone Sou (BRA), guitarist/ud player Nabil Khemir (TUN), keyboardist/Grammy winner Fathy Salama (EG), bass guitarists Jean-Luc Lehr (F) and Ahmed Nazmi (EG), bayan player Oleg Fateev (MOL), singer/songwriters Blick Bassy (Cameroon/F) and Omar Ka (Senegal/NL), kora player Lamin Saho (Gambia), pianists Ramon Valle (Cuba), Jasper van ’t Hof (NL) Rob van den Broeck, violinist Oene van Geel (NL), vibraphonist Richard Szaniszlo (HU). In Summer 2023 he toured in Australia with The Subterraneans of saxophonist James Ryan and bass player Steve Hunter.
A more recent band is Pitch Plot 4 with New York bassist James Cammack (a.o. Ahmad Jamal, Youssou n`Dour, Manolo Badrena), the German/Italian pianist Christian Pabst -later Tony Roe (Tin Men and the Telephone)- and drummer Onno Witte. This quartet released the live CD ""Big Eyebrow"" and the EP ""It happens along the way"" on the label Zennez Records and toured extensively in Europe and the USA.
Pek, Doepke, Teepe & Hart Jr. (NL/GER/USA) -another band on the Zennez roster- and the Two Moons Project (NL/FIN), an instant improvisation duo with pianist/keyboardist Sid Hille, are still pending projects.
His brand new contemporary jazz-rock -and family- project PEK with Christian Pabst (piano/keys), Onno Witte (drums/percussion/effects) and representatives of the next generation talents, Daniel Vitalij Eberling (bass guitar) and his oldest son Guy Pek (drums/percussion/effects). The new vinyl LP “Space & Gravity” (Zennez Records) is released in March 2026. Double bass player Thomas Pol and Jeroen’s youngest son vocalist Liam Pek are the guest players on this new album.
Twice he was a nominated for the composition award of the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz in Washington D.C. (US).
He regularly gives international master classes.
