About the Teacher
I am a Brazilian pianist, composer and arranger based in the Netherlands. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Piano from the University of São Paulo (USP), a Master’s degree in Jazz Piano from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, and a Master’s degree in Jazz Composition & Arrangement from the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. I perform internationally with my own projects, including my trio Caixa Cubo, and I have worked with artists such as John Ruocco, Bart van Lier, Seamus Blake, Tony Lakatos, Guinga, Elomar, Toninho Horta, Mateus Aleluia, Céline Rudolph and others.
As a teacher, I combine my classical background with extensive experience in jazz, Brazilian music and improvisation. I work on piano technique, harmony, voicings, improvisation, comping, repertoire, transcription, ear training, rhythm, as well as composition and arranging. My main focus is helping each student find their own sound. I see the piano as an orchestra, with virtually unlimited possibilities for shaping sound and texture. By understanding each student’s musical inclinations, strengths and challenges, I aim to guide them in developing the skills they need in the direction they want to take as an artist.
I enjoy working with students from different backgrounds and levels, especially those who want to become more expressive and distinctive musicians. Whether your interests are jazz, Brazilian music, improvisation, composition or contemporary music, my goal is to give you the tools and musical understanding to develop your own artistic voice.
