About the lecturer
Henk Pool is a songwriter and producer from Leeuwarden. Although he studied classical music at the Stedelijk Conservatorium in Arnhem, meeting English songwriter Paul Field – with whom he has remained friends for many years – gradually drew him towards songwriting for a wide range of artists.
This led to a long list of collaborations. In the Netherlands, he has written and produced for artists including Marco Borsato (Gold and Platinum for Als alle lichten zijn gedoofd), Kim-Lian van der Meij (title song for the film Achtste groepers huilen niet, nominated for a Rembrandt Award), Dennis van Aarssen, Sjors van der Panne, Paul de Leeuw, Jelle Koolstra (Conamus Award for Hee Zee), Stef Bos, Guus Meeuwis, Willeke Alberti, Brigitte Kaandorp and Matthijn Buwalda.
Internationally, artists including Wynonna and Avalon (Testify to Love, Platinum and Gold in the US, an ASCAP Award and a Dove Award), Lori Lieberman, Jennifer Paige (US), Cliff Richard (Gold in the UK), Paul Field and Chris Eaton (UK), Moya Brennan of the renowned Irish band Clannad, Camilla North (Norway) and Laura Pausini (Italy) have recorded Henk's songs.
Henk is also active as a composer for a wide range of television and media productions. In recent years, he has discovered how much he enjoys sharing his experience and knowledge with young music students. He has been doing so with great pleasure at ArtEZ academy of music in Enschede.
