‘Discover who you are as a musician and develop your own musical voice.’
About the teacher
My name is Hanka Clout, and since 2026 I have been a principal clarinet teacher at ArtEZ Conservatorium in Zwolle. Since 2006, I have played the clarinet and bass clarinet with the Noord Nederlands Orkest. I am also active as a chamber musician, teacher and freelance musician. After graduating with distinction in both piano and clarinet from the conservatoires of Maastricht and Amsterdam, I developed a broad professional practice as a performer, teacher and coach.
As the founder of the Amsterdam Wind Quintet, I perform concerts throughout the Netherlands and have toured internationally, including in Germany, Belgium, Poland and China. I have also performed with ensembles such as the Nije Kwartet and Het Zwols Collectief.
As a freelance musician, I have performed with almost all of the major Dutch orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Phion, the Netherlands Ballet Orchestra, the Royal Military Band ‘Johan Willem Friso’, the Netherlands Marine Band and the Royal Netherlands Air Force Orchestra.
Would you like to develop your skills as a clarinettist and discover which musical path suits you? Or are you considering studying clarinet at ArtEZ? You are very welcome to book a trial lesson.
