About the teacher
Erik Korterink (1992) is a choral conducting teacher at ArtEZ Academy of Music in Zwolle and a music teacher at Greijdanus College in Zwolle. Alongside his teaching, he works as a conductor of several choirs and as the artistic director of educational music projects. His teaching is rooted in professional practice, with a focus on artistic quality, education and collaboration.
Erik currently conducts Jongenskoor Dalfsen, the Greijdanus School Choir and the choir class at ArtEZ Academy of Music. Previously, he was, among other roles, cantor at the Dominican Church in Zwolle. With his choirs, he creates a wide range of productions and international tours. He has taken the Greijdanus School Choir on a concert tour to Canada. With Jongenskoor Dalfsen, he regularly travels to England, where the rich English choral tradition is an important source of inspiration.
With the Greijdanus School Choir, Erik collaborated with Eurovision artist Claude. Their joint video reached a large audience on social media and was viewed hundreds of thousands of times. In 2026, he will lead the educational concert tour of Holland Baroque, performing with the orchestra at venues including the Main Hall of TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht and Concertgebouw De Vereeniging in Nijmegen. Through these projects, he introduces young musicians and audiences to classical music in an inspiring way.
Erik studied Music in Education at ArtEZ Academy of Music and graduated in 2015. In 2021, he completed his studies in Choral Conducting cum laude under the guidance of Klaas Stok and Geert-Jan van Beijeren. He also completed a minor in Orchestral Conducting with Joost Smeets. He is currently studying Classical Voice at ArtEZ Academy of Music with Marjan Kuiper.
His artistic development has an international dimension, shaped by intensive masterclasses and study programmes in England with leading English choral conductors. He has also attended masterclasses with internationally renowned composers and conductors including James MacMillan, Morten Lauridsen and Rihards Dubra. In addition, he has organised choral festivals featuring contributions from these composers.
By combining artistic practice, international experience and many years of teaching, Erik brings professional musical practice directly into the classroom. His lessons are grounded in extensive knowledge of the field, personal commitment and a continuous connection between artistic development and making music.
