About the teacher
Anneloes Verveld is a singer, vocal coach, voice-over artist and songwriter.
She graduated cum laude from the Conservatory of Amsterdam as a performing and teaching musician (first and second phase), specialising in contemporary commercial music vocals. In 1999, she won the Jazztalent Foundation Award, followed in 2001 by the Ann Burton Award. The jury praised her storytelling through singing.
As the singer-songwriter Sarah Fairfield, she has released two albums and a live EP to date. She made her debut in 2005 with the album Green, which received rave reviews. Its singles 'Fly Away' and 'The Game' remained on the playlists of Dutch Radio 1 and Radio 2 for weeks. The album was released not only in the Benelux, but also in Taiwan and the UK, attracting the attention of Dan Cleary, manager of, among others, Carole King and The Carpenters. He introduced her to the legendary American record labels Verve and Blue Note Records, which led to performances in the USA. At the end of 2009, her second album Dreams & Schemes & Parades was released. This colourful album was named 'Radio 1 CD' by Dutch radio.
Sarah Fairfield performed for many seasons in Dutch theatres with her own live band and created and performed in four original music productions. She also toured as a soloist with the Metropole Orkest. Sarah appeared on programmes on Radio 1 and 2, 747 AM and Concertzender, as well as on the VPRO television programme Vrije Geluiden. From 2003 to 2006, she was the regular singer on the AVRO programme Opium. Her song 'Fly Away' was featured in the film Afblijven! by Maria Peters. Sarah was included in BLVD magazine's list of the '100 Most Promising Dutch Women' and wrote and performed the National Climate Song 2009, based on lyrics by Lizzy Koppe-van Pelt.
She has also performed as a solo singer at numerous commercial events, theatres and productions, and has supported many artists as a backing vocalist, including The Trammps and Edsilia Rombley. She also presents live events.
Her voice can be heard in various national and international commercials and games, including campaigns for Lidl, Dr. Oetker, Leen Bakker, Rabobank, Vlisco, Centraal Beheer, Coca-Cola, Fanta, HP, BMI and Keuken Kampioen.
One of these commercials became a YouTube hit in 2013, after which the song 'When I Think of You' was released as a single in collaboration with YouGuysMusic from Berlin.
In 2014, Sarah Fairfield's song 'Heart of Mine' was featured in the successful US drama series The Fosters on ABC Family, produced by Jennifer Lopez.
In addition to her studies at the conservatory, Anneloes also studied English Language and Literature and Film and Television Studies, specialising in production. She has worked as a vocal coach with Dutch actors in film (Afblijven!, Lover of Loser) and theatre (Soldaat van Oranje), and has also taught at the Youth Theatre School.
(Vocal) coaching to bring out the best in someone is her speciality. This can involve vocal technique — for which she works with classical singing technique as well as EVT, CVT and UVS — as well as production (organisational and interdisciplinary musical skills), performance, musical identity, and writing songs and lyrics.
She works as a Main Subject Teacher in Singing at the ArtEZ Academy of Music in Enschede and is also an examiner at other conservatoires.
