In brief
This master’s programme is designed for those with a bachelor’s degree in, for example, illustration, comics, animation, design, storytelling, or journalism. We also welcomes professionals from other creative or educational fields, if you wish to reposition your practice or engage with society on another level.
It is the only illustration based master in the Netherlands, making it a unique programme that offers storytellers depth and meaning to their field of expertise whilst building a strong research practice around your personal values and purpose.
What you'll learn
While research into illustration is still largely carried out within an academic context, IBN students develop research perspectives rooted in their artistic practice.
They learn to use illustration and imagery as tools to tell stories, visualise viewpoints, and open up new perspectives. Whether from an artistic, theoretical, or journalistic angle, this programme offers space to develop an individual signature and to strengthen one’s impact as a visual storyteller.
