Application and admission

Admission requirements

If you want to apply for the School of Acting, you must meet the following conditions: 

  • Pre-university education (VWO), upper general secondary education (HAVO), secondary vocational education (MBO: level 4) or foreign equivalent level of education; 
  • International students are subject to language requirements
  • A positive result for the audition procedure.  

Entrance exam 

In order to be admitted to the School of Acting, you must participate in the audition procedure. This is the perfect opportunity for you to find out whether the theatre school in Arnhem is right for you. In turn, we will get to know you better as a player during the auditions. We will assess your potential to successfully complete the course. In doing so, we will mainly be looking at whether you can develop into an actor.  

The audition 

The programme of the audition week is similar to the training modules and classes you do at the School of Acting. This means they will give you a good impression of the course and the lecturers. So the audition really is a mutual introduction.  
 
For each round, you will be given assignments to prepare.

  • Round 1: one audition day with two classes
  • Round 2: two days with four lessons
  • Round 3: two days with five lessons

A mid-term evaluation takes place after each round. The teachers then give a binding recommendation whether or not to continue the auditions. The final results will be announced around March (exact date to be confirmed).

Dates

First round

Dates round 1: Saturday 17 january, zaterdag 24 january, zaterdag 31 january, zaterdag 7 february 2026.

Round two and three

Dates round 2A: Monday 02 and Tuesday 03 March 2026.
Dates round 2B: Thursday 05 and Friday 06 March 2026.

Dates round 3: Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 March 2026.

Results

The final results will be announced on Thursday 12 March 2026.

Validity of the admission  

Candidates who are admitted after the audition may only start the course in the academic year immediately following the auditions.  
An admission is only valid for the course for which you have applied. If you would like to apply for admission to other ArtEZ courses, you must apply for them separately via Studielink
