Music Preparatory Course and Young Talent Class

Programme

The Music Preparatory Course will prepare you for the Academy of Music.

The preparatory programme offers a full range of guidance, training and information to prepare you for the entrance examination of the Bachelor’s course. You will receive instrument or vocal lessons in your major, contribute to class recitals and participate in the ensemble days. You will also receive lessons in music theory. The lessons are taught by lecturers from the Academy of Music.

Classical Music / Jazz & Pop

This annual programme spans 30 teaching weeks and includes the following components:

  • Individual instrument/vocal lesson in your major for 45 minutes every week
  • General theory programmes (aural training and general music theory), 50 minutes every week
  • Jazz & Pop band coaching, 60 minutes every week
  • Players of wind instruments, strings and singers will have piano accompaniment
  • Recital evenings
  • Two workshop days at ArtEZ

Music in Education

This annual programme includes the following components:

  • Individual instrument/vocal lessons, 45 minutes a week for 20 weeks 
  • General theory programmes (aural training and general music theory), 50 minutes every week for 30 weeks
  • Three workshop days on Saturday. Location: Enschede or Zwolle

Brass band conducting

This annual programme includes the following components:

  • Brass Band Conducting classes, held by main subject lecturer Alex Schillings; 90 minutes per week (Tuesday: 16.30 – 18.00) for 12 weeks. Class content:
    • Conducting techniques/motor skills development, learning to communicate with your hands, arms and fac
    • Knowledge of style
    • Leading ensembles/orchestras/choir
    • Theory focused on the conductor profession
    • Listening to music (receptive training)
  • General theory programmes (aural training and general music theory), 50 minutes every week for 30 weeks
  • Two workshop days at ArtEZ
