Crossing Strings is a graduation concert where you discover the versatility of the violin, take a short journey through time, and see and hear various musical styles and instruments.

The Eos Quartet will perform a beautiful string quartet by Aleksandr Borodin, a Russian chemist, composer, and cellist. He wrote one of the finest string quartets of the nineteenth century, perfect for a delightful daydreaming. It is his second string quartet, in D major. The third movement, the Notturne, is particularly well-known to many.

Afterwards, let yourself be surprised by Farfelu, a gypsy jazz band. You will be transported to Paris in the 1930s, where this unique musical style emerged from a mix of American jazz, French musette, and traditional Gypsy music. They play in a standard lineup of double bass, two guitars, and violin.

To close the evening, you will hear the Gloerich Family Band. They have been playing together as a family for years and deliver swinging Dixieland jazz. Here, you won't hear a violin, but another special string instrument: the banjo, combined with sousaphone, drums, and trumpet. If that doesn't cheer you up!
