MonkeyJam
The MonkeyJam is an open jamsession with only one rule: no existing songs. With this as the main premise, the MonkeyJam has grown into perhaps the best-known jamsession in the Eastern part of the Netherlands.
With monthly sessions in Zwolle, Enschede, Apeldoorn, Deventer, Arnhem and Nijmegen, the MonkeyJam is a meeting place for a group of like-minded musicians. Almost every 2nd Thursday of the month in one of the nicest venues in Zwolle: Jacks Music Bar!
The focus at the MonkeyJam is on groove and playing together, creating music that feels like a song completely based on improvisation. Precisely because no one knows in advance what is going to happen, the most ecstatic moments can arise when musicians communicate musically and connect. From hip-hop bangers with funky freestyles to experimental indie with eclectic climaxes, everything is possible based on improvisation.
MonkeyJam Zwolle is organized by Colored Monkeys and is part of Jamculture Zwolle: a collaboration of several jamsessions in Zwolle, Hedon Talentsupport and ArtEZ Academy of Music. Colored Monkeys is a musical community that connects musicians and organizes various stages for musicians, from jamsessions to festival internships and various educational projects.
