Inaugural lecture by lecturer and professor Daniëlle Bruggeman on fashion and solidarity

Thursday 20 March 2025 Danielle Bruggeman delivers her inaugural lecture Stitches of Care: Practising Solidarity through Fashion at Radboud University in Nijmegen. This lecture follows her appointment as professor of Fashion and Sustainability at Radboud, in April 2024. This appointment allows ArtEZ University of the Arts and Radboud University to approach the topic of sustainability from the perspective of art and science.

More about Danielle Bruggeman
Danielle Bruggeman studied General Cultural Studies at Radboud University. She obtained her PhD – also in Nijmegen – in 2014 for a thesis entitled More Than Meets the Eye: Dutch Fashion, Identity and New Materialism, on the relationship between fashion and identity. She then worked as a lecturer and researcher, including at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. Since 2017, Bruggeman is lecturer Fashion at ArtEZ University of the Arts, where she leads the fashion research programme and teaches within the master’s programme Critical Fashion Practices. Bruggeman is part of the core team NewTexEco.
