Studium generale is pleased to host an online conversation with filmmakers Lonnie van Brummelen and Siebren de Haan about their film. Dee Sitonu a Weti / Stone Have Laws is an immersive exploration of life of a Maroon community in the former Dutch colony Suriname. Combining stories of African ancestral traditions and escaped slavery, this captivating documentary examines the devastating impact of industry on the community’s bond with the land.
