The book DRAPING, published in November 2008, is an instruction manual about drapery and designing. Draping is a three-dimensional design- and implementation technique allowing a great degree of freedom in design. Draping has throughout history been much applied to create couture. The revival of the drapery-technique is why the Department of Fashion Design of ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Arnhem decided to publish this book in cooperation with ArtEZ Press. The expertise of professionals in draping Annette Duburg and Rixt van der Tol lead in a series of clear practical steps the way through this book. There are only a limited number of people who can still teach this discipline and this book provides a thorough and detailed basis. This makes an area accessible that functions as an interesting additional design niche in contemporary fashion design.
