Introduction

Fashion is one of the most influential forms of expression in our contemporary culture. Serving as a mirror of our time, fashion is also regarded as a post-modern metaphor of what goes on in society. Gaining the full grasp of fashion as a cultural phenomenon is impossible without a broad, interdisciplinary approach. Careful consideration of fashion in its theoretical and social contexts allows us to gain insight into its underlying meanings and open them up for discussion.

Students enrolled in the Fashion Masters develop a comprehensive and personal perspective on fashion, and they define their position within its continuously changing context. They work on the visual communication of fashion as a cultural phenomenon. The Fashion Masters provides one-on-one supervision to its students. This personal way of coaching ensures the student's academic, creative and professional progress and helps them to build a professional network.

Within the Fashion Masters two fashion master programmes are offered: the Master Fashion Design and the Master Fashion Strategy. These are fulltime, two-year curriculums with English as language of instruction. Together they cover the vast variety of subjects of the contemporary fashion sector. At this moment the Fashion Masters have a total of 32 students coming from 9 different countries from all over the world (60% from the Netherlands).

“The two Masters share a focus on the development of an original and well-grounded vision, theoretical context and visual communication of the phenomenon of fashion. You will be given an opportunity to explore the profession in depth, to work on your own unique signature, to build a strong portfolio and to learn how to position yourself in the field.”
