ArtEZ winner of the Orange Carpet Award
The Orange Carpet Award is a prize presented to the institute of higher education that - in a special way - does its very best to ensure the well-being of its international students. ArtEZ won the prize with its Memento project of Art & Design in Enschede. In this project, foreign students - and recently also Dutch students - can visualise their personal memories by applying various techniques to an artwork. Here, they are discussing similarities and differences in terms of the way in which they remember things and the extent to which cultural traditions and place of origin play a role in this process. ArtEZ students then organise an international exhibition of their work. This concept has subsequently been adopted by ArtEZ’s partner institutes.
It is the first time that a higher education college has been selected as one of the finalists. The other finalists are the University of Twente and the Eindhoven University of Technology.
The award will be presented during the Nuffic Annual Conference on 15 March 2011.

From the 26th of May till the 20th of June 2011 exchange students of ArtEZ Art and Design in Enschede will present their final work at the exhibition Memento II.
