The work of product designers can be seen all around us. Everything is designed – from cars to cutlery, from furniture to bags. A product designer develops ideas for consumer products, step by step, into efficient and detailed basic designs, always keeping the user in mind. Product designers help shape the world that we live in. The ArtEZ Product Design programme teaches students to take a conscious, critical look at functionality, aesthetics and sustainability. With the right context, ideas can be turned into useful designs. The programme’s principle focus is on teaching students how to turn their concepts into successful products, and to develop their own style.
For more than 40 years, ArtEZ has been training product designers who have their own modern vision of international design. In addition, they are highly capable of expressing this vision in their designs. Mastering the skills of the trade is also a highly relevant aspect within the programme. Marcel Wanders, Ineke Hans, Sander Luske and Hester Vlamings are all product designers who received training at ArtEZ. The study programme boasts excellent facilities, including well-equipped workshops for wood, synthetics and metal.
