Music Theatre
As a multi-layered discipline, Music Theatre offers ample possibilities to individuals who are multi-talented or are looking for all-round training. In the Music Theatre Bachelor’s programme, students combine music, dance and theatre in unique and socially engaging productions. Individual development in music and art lies at the core of this training for music theatre performers. Our performers find work in various fields: from cabaret to video opera, youth theatre and musicals. The binding factor is performers’ powerful presence, which exceeds individual art disciplines. Collaborating with actors, vocalists and instrumentalists is an everyday reality, whether this be at ArtEZ (with its many art study programmes under one roof), or together with graduates and external parties.

Students are trained in all aspects of their future careers by specialised teachers, directors, choreographers and vocal and instrumental specialists. In addition to performances at the ArtEZ theatres, the programme seeks out platforms such as M-lab and the Orgelpark (Organ Park) in Amsterdam, the Lindenbergtheater in Nijmegen and location theatres. Performances are held for and with various target groups: for school children, but also for people in care centres or secondary schools, for instance, during the Youth Opera (YO) Festival in Utrecht.
Music Theatre focuses principally on singing, but instrumentalists with sufficient theatre potential can also take part in the study programme.
