MediaMusic
If there is one study programme that really applies ‘lifelong learning’, it is MediaMusic. Music technology and the related production and composition methods are rapidly changing. In professional studios, large blending plates have made way for compact controllers. At the same time, the necessary technology has become more accessible. The iPad, for instance, now makes it possible for everyone to create complete music productions. Today’s composers, music producers and songwriters need to be flexible enough to adapt to this wave of change. For this reason, ArtEZ students are trained to be flexible and alert. The study programme focuses on concepts like conceptual thinking ability, cooperation, clear communication and reflective learning.

The programme’s main objective is to give students the room to develop their own music, style and creativity. Students find their place in the international music and entertainment scene through three main subjects: Composer – Arranger, Songwriter & Producer and Music Producer. These fields are explored by learning skills and theory, as well as applying these in practice.
Other inspiring contributions are made by guest lecturers such as Ben Liebrand, Tjeerd Oosterhuis and MediaMusic’s associate professor Tom Holkenborg, aka Junkie XL. In Enschede and through video conferences from Los Angeles, he sheds light on the international aspects of the music industry and shares his expertise in the fields of dance, R&B, song, bands, film and video game music. You gain experience in the music industry through project-based collaboration with Academy of Pop Music students, professionals in the field and the Production Company.
