What are the audition proceedings?
First Round: A selection committee will review the required materials submitted by all the applicants. From all full applications received, a number of applicants will be selected to advance to the second round.
Second Round (March 8th and 9th 2012): The selection committee for the second round will be comprised of the head programme, core staff members and an external advisor from the field of choreography. This committee will review and evaluate the submitted materials of the selected applicants, evaluate eventual real-time assignments and conduct an interview.
The interview and any eventual real-time assignment will be guided by six, self-reflective qualifying criteria in which the candidate will be asked to reflect on their past professional experience, current special interests and career goals in relation to DU’s educational goals. The criteria are:
To what extent is the candidate able to:
1. develop a creative and articulate approach to present the body in dance and/or other related art works.
2. network and create structures to sustain their work as processes and products.
3. demonstrate a knowledge about the social, political and economic context and implications and contributions of their choreographic work.
4. further develop production and managerial abilities, and be able to solve problems within complex situations.
5. to comprehend, write and speak critically, regarding developments, representations and presentation of the body in dance and its discourses in contemporary thought..
6. develop the capacity to reflect on his or her own actions to come to improvement, and communicate the conclusions of past projects and rationales for future initiatives.
The Second Round Selection committee will make the final selection and the candidates will be notified on their admission status within two to three weeks from the interview date.
