SPOTTED: ArtEZ's partner Orkest De Erepijs performs new music by Vanessa Lann and others in museum tour

On June 15, 2023, the Volkskrant paid attention to the Day of the Composer (June 17, 2023). The newspaper did so with an article about the Museum Tour of ArtEZ's partner Orkest de Ereprijs. In this museum tour, the orchestra will perform work by new composers, including that of Vanessa Lann, the head of the Composition for Film and Theatre course at the ArtEZ Academy of Music in Arnhem.
The article in the Volkskrant describes an afternoon when Orkest de Ereprijs rehearsed the piece Distant Trinity. The piece was composed by Vanessa Lann, one of the best-known Dutch composers and head of the Composition for Film & Theatre course. The piece is based on a medieval wood sculpture.
Living composers
Orchestra De Ereprijs calls itself 'Instrument for living composers', an orchestra that focusses music by contemporary composers. In the Volkskrant, trumpeter Sjoerd Pauw mentions the collaboration with composition students from the ArtEZ Academy of Music, from the Composition for Film and Theatre and Classical Music courses: "We work together in film music, for example, or in the ChoCo project, which stands for 'choreography and composition."
Museum tour
With Vanessa Lann's composition and five other compositions, the orchestra will tour six different museums in the Netherlands starting Saturday, June 17. Six composers have each been commissioned by the orchestra to create a work based on a piece from the museum's permanent collection.
