Composer for Film, Games & Media

With this profile, you learn how to compose, arrange and orchestrate for film, games and media. You can use big orchestras for this, but you might want to compose with a single instrument or the computer.

Storytelling is key

The power of music in films and games lies in the feeling for tension. The flow and tension of the story must also be reflected in the music, which follows the various emotions of the images and the storyline. At the same time, your music must also fit with each small scene. You must therefore be able to analyse scenes and translate the director's imagery into appropriate music. So, you learn Storytelling through music. Besides orchestral music, you also learn to interpret the core of scenes and the film with other arrangements and a diversity of styles, such as the use of guitars, piano, synthesizers, pop band, Latin band, etc.

To compose game music, in MediaMusic, you use the latest audio technology and game engines to achieve the highest feasible adaptiveness and immersion. You work on assignments and projects with live musicians and/or digital resources, collaborating with students from the other Academies of Music, such as the Academy of Pop Music, Classical Music and Jazz & Pop. You can also work with big orchestras like Phion.
